A passenger was arrested at the international airport here for allegedly smuggling two gold biscuits worth Rs 49.85 lakh.

Passenger Meethal Nizar was intercepted by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) team of the Mumbai Customs after he landed from Dubai by an Emirates flight yesterday.


He was hiding the two 1-kg gold bars in his socks and has admitted it, said AIU officials.


The passenger has been arrested under Section 104 of Customs Act, 1962.


Further investigations are in progress.
