proceedings and avoid paying compensation to his wife.
After sustained interrogation he revealed the name of his in-laws and our team approached the house of his niece. She told us that Joginder was hiding because he had faked his own death 7 years ago to escape legal proceedings. He was married thrice; his first wife passed away a long time ago, then he married Sukhvinder Kaur from Ludhiana.
But their married life was very strained. They had 4 children together but after sometime Joginder left his wife and children and discreetly got married a third time, to Kulwant Kaur from Bapa village near Ludhiana," said a police officer.
But Sukhvinder went to court seeking maintenance for herself and her children. Joginder had hidden himself in some isolated place. But after this plea he was disturbed and was trying to find a way to escape legal action and to dump his second wife and children.
"Luckily for him, a man named Joginder Singh passed away at the civil hospital in Ludhiana. The culprit got the idea of pretending he was dead as even the deceased's father and his own father shared the same name. After achieving the desired objective, he settled down with his third wife," the officer added.
But Joginder hadn't done a background check on the deceased who had a history of crime and had been arrested in cases under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Delhi.u00a0 The culprit has been arrested by Delhi police under section 420 of the IPC.
