Acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid and the accused Kanhaiyyalal Dave was caught from Diamond Market in Malad, where he had gone to sell some of the stolen diamonds that were worth Rs six lakh, police said. “Later, diamonds worth Rs 1.

16 crore were recovered from him. So far, valuables worth
Rs 1.22 crore have been seized from him,” a cop from D B Marg police station said.

Dave used to work at Kesaria Enterprise at Opera House. On May 2, he left office abruptly and didn’t return. “We had inputs that he would come to Malad. So we laid a trap and nabbed him,” the officer said.
