Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who is on a four-day visit to Japan on Wednesday met business leaders at Osaka.


Fadnavis also addressed the delegates at the 'Visit Maharashtra' session organised by Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation.


"At the session, the Chief Minister spoke about the deep historical and cultural Indo-Japan ties and he also invited them to come and explore Maharashtra," an official at Chief Minister's Office said.


Earlier in the day, Fadnavis was received by Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, Ambassador of India and other officials. Daikin Air Conditioning India Chairman and CEO Toshio Nakano among those who met the Chief Minister and he participated in the 'Visit Maharashtra Buddhist Tourist Circuit' in Osaka where several Japanese tourist operators were also present.

The chief minister spoke about development of Ajanta and Ellora caves in Aurangabad and the assistance given by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). "After successful completion of phase 1 (development of these caves), the Chief Minister stressed the need for further cooperation for balanced infrastructure development and amenities," the official said.

He also met representatives of Kansai Economic Federation and Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Masashi Hasimoto, Chairman of International Business Committee of Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and GM, Marubeni Corporation-Osaka and Yoshimasa Ohashi, Vice Chairman International Business Committee of Kansai Economic Federation (KANKEIREN) led the delegation from Japan.

Kansai region has an economy of USD 800 billion and Osaka being in the centre of Kansai is a manufacturing hub and an important port in Japan.

Terming Maharashtra as a leading manufacturing state in India, Fadnavis invited members of Kansai Federation and Osaka Chamber to the state.
