People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Abdul Nasser Madani who has been arrested in connection with the Bangalore serial blasts case has been remanded in judicial custody after a week long police detention.



Madani, who was produced by a team of officials before the Ist Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate yesterday, was asked by the judge whether cops had harassed him in anyway.

Madani replied in negative except that his health aspect has not been looked into.

As Madani is fasting, he sought permission from the Ist Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate to perform his religious obligation and a copy of the Quran to be taken inside.


"I am suffering from multiple aliments and needed a expertise care," he said. During the custody he once start bleeding from his nose, due to deteriorating health condition.

However, the officials have only one MBBS doctor to attend to. "I needed an orthopedic and cardiac expert's medical care," he submitted before the court.

Madani added that he is crippled and hence needed a western toilet at the cell and sought permission to carry his wheelchair inside the prison.

Since Madani is fasting, he sought permission to perform his religious obligation and a copy of the Quran to be taken inside the jail.

Considering his plea, Judge Venkatesh Hulagi directed the authorities to provide necessary treatment from specialised hospitals along with the other facilities.

The court hall was jam-packed soon after Madani was brought with full security cover.

Taking a strong exception about the visitors flashing their mobile phones in the court, the judge asked the police to send the media representatives out of the court hall.

Meanwhile, Madani's Counsel P Usman said that he has filed a bail petition at the 5th fast track court and the matter would come up today
