Patna: While RJD chief Lalu Prasad has confirmed participation in the Samajwadi Party (SP) Foundation Day function on November 5 at Lucknow, JD(U) yesterday made it clear that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would not be able to make it to the programme.
KC Tyagi, JD(U) secretary general, said Kumar will not be able to make it to the November 5 event at Lucknow owing to Chhath festival.
Kumar's absence will dent SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's efforts to cobble up a broad coalition ahead of crucial UP elections early next year by parading prominent leaders on a platform at the party's silver jubilee celebrations.
