Kannada Movies Reviews

Action Debut

Film; Vaayuputra (drama)
Cast: Cheeranjeevi Sarja, Aindrita Ray and Ambareesh
Director: Kishore Sarja
Theatres: Nartaki, Prasanna, Navarang and PVR
Rating: JJ

Chiranjeevi Sarja and Aindrita Ray

What's it about:
This complete family drama is an emotional drama set in a village. Balu (Cheeranjeevi Sarja), a medical student comes to Mangalore to meet his friend's family. He falls in love with his friend's sister Divya (Aindrita Ray). One day Balu has a tiff with the local don Poonja and post the fight he goes back to his village. Poonja follows him to kill him, but he is scared of Balu's wealthy family background, which has the whole village's support. Watch the film to know if Poonja is successful in his attempt to kill Balu.

What's Hot: Aindrita's acting is quite noteworthy and Ambareesh also manages to pull through. Cheeranjeevi Sarja is adept in his action sequence. The camera work is also remarkable. Vaayuputra is perfect for those who want to go watch au00a0 film with their family. Looks like Director Kishore Sarja is very fond of action sequence, as in this whole film, he has portrayed a lot of action.

What's Not: Music is not at all catchy and the narrative is extremely boring and drags towards the end.
Verdict: Watch the film for Aindrita's funny scenes.

Age is just a number

Film: Mussanjeya Gelathi (drama)
Cast: B P Srinivas, Shalini, Ganashree, Gaurav
Director: B P Srinivas
Theatres: Aparna and PVR
Rating: JJ

Debutant director BP Srinivas has no idea about the script and appears to be confused about the direction of the film. The script is nothing new and his character as a hero, is not at all impessive.

What's it about: A bachelor professor Manjunatha Rao (B P Srinivas) falls in love with his young student Pallavi (Shalini). His adopted daughter Chethana (Ganashree), who is also Pallavi's classmate, opposes their match.

What's hot: Gaurav and Shalini's acting is good. Music is catchy and camera work is beautiful.

What's not: Srinivas's acting does not impress the audience and dialogues are stale.

Verdict: Watch it if you want to face a lot of confusion.

Unravelling mysteries

Film: Hushaar (Thriller)
cast: Aadarsh, Mallika Kapur and Anand
Director: Aadarsh
Theatres: Menaka, Uma and PVR
Rating: JJ

strike a pose: Aadarsh and Mallika Kapur

What's it about:
Vishwas (Aadarsh) a CID officer comes to a small village to investigate and unravel a mysterious murderer. He plays the role of an agricultural research professional and scoots around the forests in search of the bad guy. He finally brings to light all the fraudulent practices that were on. And like any typical Indian movie, we have a love angle too. Vishwas lives in Akshatha (Mallika) a village girl's house and the two fall in love.u00a0

There is a twist to the tale here. The story moves on to Shivabasava, a village worker, who happens to find a huge sum of money in the deep jungles, which happens to be the late dacoit Veerappan's money. What happens post the posession of the treasure trove and between the bad guy and the good guy is for you to find out.

What's Hot: Aadarsh has done a good job as an actor and director and Mallika charms the audience with her simplistic beauty and acting. Anand's comedy adds the fun element to the script. Director Aadarsh's script is praiseworthy, but his cinematography drags like a tele-serial. Thriller and comedy are the highlights of the film.

What's Not: Music is not worth a mention at all and the camerawork needs a lot of improvement.

Verdict: You could watch the movie atleast once.
