Cops arrest man who sent threatening messages to the MP to implicate rival in love. Sanjeev Kumar reports

The cops have arrestedu00a0Narender, a resident of Patel Nagar, for sending threatening and malicious messages not only to Tharoor but also to a dozen MPs, including Brinda Karat and Mahmood Madani.

Narender confessed before the cops that he had sent the messages from two SIM cards, which he procured using Manik Verma's name.

Narender had asked Tharoor to apologise to Lalit Modi or else he'd kill him.

In fact, he and Verma were in love with the same girl and Narender did this to slander Verma so that he gets out of his way.

Narender told cops that he stole Verma's driving licence, took his photograph from a social networking website and submitted them to procure SIM cards.

Later, he gathered phone numbers of several MPs and sent them SMSes intending to land Verma in trouble.

The jilted lover had bought a SIM card from Jasvinder Singh, a mobile phone shop owner in Gaffar market.

"When we questioned Singh, he told us how the buyer looked. He said that a man in his 20s, around
5 feet 7 inch tall had bought the card.

Accordingly, we made a sketch and with the help of Electronic Surveillance, were successful in locating Narender," a police officer said.

The cop added that Narender had not made any calls except for one on April 13 to Rashtrapati Bhawan and another to the Income Tax Office.
