Jagannath Chaturbhuj Halwai
At: Shop No 2/4, Khao Gali, Agiary Lane, Zaveri Bazar, Kalbadevi.
Call: 23426143
Cost: Rs 12 for 50 grams

You will have to trek through the crowded Zaveri Bazar to reach this little gem of a shop, but it's completely worth it, even though you have to either order a take away or just stand outside the counter as you eat. The Jalebis, hot from the kadhai, are mouthwatering. Pair them with a hot cup of tea or Masala Milk and you've got yourself a meal. Don't leave without trying out their Dryfruit Samosa. Jalebis available from 7 am to 8.30 pm

At: 248, Karai Estate, Tardeo Road, opposite Bhatia Hospital, Tardeo.
Call: 65808405
Cost: Rs 60 for 200 gm jalebi
Swati Snacks owner Asha Zaveri is sure she doesn't want to open a branch of her famous eatery, because she "doesn't want to compromise on quality". And quality Jalebis are what we were served. The small, delicate snack has just the right amount of sweet, and melts in your mouth. But there's a catch. They are only available between 7 am and 10 am on Saturday and Sunday. Time your visit or you could be left drooling.

Oye! Punjabi
At: Shop No 3 ground floor, MHADA Complex, Building No 12, Link Road, Oshiwara.u00a0 Call: 32992134
Cost: Rs 15 for one samosa
Owned and operated by the original Pappi Singh and partner who started Only Parantha in Lokhandwala way back in 2000, Oye Punjabi has some delectable samosas for the suburbanites. Meat lovers can try the Chicken Samosa. Far from dripping in oil, these are tasty as hell. The filling has just the right amount of spice, and is ultra chatpata. Veggies can go for Cheese and Paneer Samosa.

Brijwasi Sons
At:
7 Dadi House, Juhu-Irla Road, next to Alfa, Vile Parle (W). Call: 26713118
Cost: Rs 10 for a plate of two samosas
If you're shopping at Alfa, the whiff of piping hot samosas from Brijwasi Sons is hard to miss. Though the ambience is not much to speak of, what with the hellish Vile Parle traffic and not much place to sit, the samosa is worth it. The reasonably priced plate is served with spicy green and tangy imli chutney.

Guru Kripa
AT: Guru Kripa Building, Road No. 24, ahead of SIES College, plot no 40, Sion (W). Call: 24074188
Cost: Rs 17 for a plate of Chhole Samosa
This eatery is well known for serving the world's best Chhole Samosa for a mere 17 bucks. These are also the guys who supply samosas to Mumbai's theatres. This is a self-service joint.
