MithaiMate.com is the brainchild of four young techies with a sweet tooth, and offers dessert-delivery services in three citiesu00a0Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. The concept is simple. The firm has tied up with reputed mithais-makers from these townsu00a0Nathu Sweets in Delhi, Punjabi Ghasitaram Halwai in Mumbai and Anand Sweets in Bangaloreu00a0and makes sure all orders are processed within a few hours of having been placed. The resultu00a0no soured chaashni, no rotten kesar and no sticky parcels. "We're totally against the courier model, and aim to do it fresher, better and faster than those couldn't-give-a-damn-for-qualityu00a0 e-comm sites," said Akhilesh Bali, one of the founders. The other team-members are Shashank Agarwal, Ashutosh Dixit and Rachit Mehra.

Wondering how it all works? You place an order of a minimum of 500 gms of a sweet (the cheapest on their list is the motichoor laddoo @ Rs 160 a kg), they call up the vendors and have their boys over to collect the fresh stock, and within a maximum of five hours, the package gets to its destination. "The shorter the notice, the better it works," Akhilesh explained. The menu boasts of sugarfree anjir barfee, pista halwa, chaina angoor and an exotic assortment called Delhi 6, among other saccharine savouries. Bengali sweets are a specialty here. Not impressed enough? There's always the option of customising the stuff and adding personal messages. A number of online payment modes are available, and the portal will soon accept overseas orders. The fare, of course, stays fully Indian.
