Mathura: Calling the Centre's initiative to clean the Yamuna under the 'Namami Gange' project as historic, actress-turned-politician Hema Malini said the river is "bound to become clean" after its completion.

The work on the project worth Rs 40 crore began yesterday in the presence of Union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Uma Bharti and Dharmendra Pradhan.
Speaking on the occasion, local MP Malini said: "People have been complaining about the pitiable condition of the Yamuna. However, when the project would be completed, the river is bound to become clean."
She said she was happy that the promise made by her to sages and the citizens was finally going to materialise.
