"Farhan Akhtar's look in Wazir was taken from ATS officers' clean and sharp haircuts. To achieve the look of his character in 'Wazir' as Danish Ali, one needs to get a short, fade haircut on the sides and back. The parting can be as per your personal preference. We suggest a side one."

"Farhan Akhtar's look in Wazir was taken from ATS officers' clean and sharp haircuts. To achieve the look of his character in 'Wazir' as Danish Ali, one needs to get a short, fade haircut on the sides and back. The parting can be as per your personal preference. We suggest a side one." It was Adhuna Akhtar, founder and creative director of a hair salon chain, weighing in on husband Farhan Akhtar's look in this Friday's release, Wazir.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but as is known, the Akhtars, with their production house Excel Entertainment, were the first in Bollywood to spend so much time on what lay atop an actor's head with their 2001 hit, Dil Chahta Hai. Until then, actors were usually seen to walk through each of their films – mythological/ western/sci-fi, with more or less the same topography they'd arrived on the sets with. DCH made hairstyling a new order and Adhuna its high priestess.

Does she strategically design a different look for Farhan in each of his movies? "Yes, as this also helps him to develop his character. For example, for his role as Sunny Gill in Dil Dhadakne Do, as his character was an outdoorsy kind of guy, it was important to give him a look that was a bit rugged, but not unkempt; dishevelled, but not messy," she said.

Akhtar's new line of hair products come with detailed instructions for achieving film looks: Farhan's Wazir look, we are informed, is achieved with 'a small dollop' of their light weight gel on towel dried hair. Pro tip is to apply the product 'first on the top and comb it flat to a sleek side parting.' Whereas for his Bhaag Milkha Bhaag look, one is only required to use one of their shampoo and conditioners...

Regarding this unique approach to films as hair styling brochures, we wanted to ask Akhtar about Amitabh Bachchan's leonine fifty shades of gray mane in Wazir. What needs to be done to achieve this look, we wanted to ask the uber stylist. But we didn't, because that would be splitting hairs...

Biggest. Fattest. Grandest.
It cannot get bigger than this as they say on TV. But then, zeitgeist clichés come in most handy, when one is talking about the what is expected to be the biggest, fattest wedding of the season — that of Khushi Singh, daughter of Percept chairman and MD Harindra (Harry) Singh, to SoBo entrepreneur Samir Chowdhury, which revs up next week with a spate of parties in Mumbai (Maheka Mirpuri hosts the first) and then settles down in Goa for a week of events.

And the reason why it's expected to be the last word in mammoth wedding organisation is that not only is Percept one of the biggest wedding organisers in the country (ironically Khushi heads this division), but that Aditya Motwane, formerly in the group and the country's other best known wedding organizer, is in charge of the Singh Chowdhury extravaganza.

"It's going to be crazy," said Shailendra, Khushi's doting 'Chachu.' "Not only is it going to be the first wedding of this generation (we have 5 eligible candidates), but we are so excited that our mother will be presiding as our late dad's only wish was that he witnessed the wedding of one of his grandchildren!" said an emotional Singh.

Singh of course, is no stranger to gargantuan nuptials, it was he, in fact, who had started the whole wedding organising ball rolling in Percept, when he was roped in to organise the double whammy wedding of two of Subroto (Sahara) Roy's sons in Lucknow in 2004, which cost R550 crores, featuring planes, chariots, flying ministers and dancing stars and 101 cuisines.

Valli Honoured
"The photograph was taken on Sunday at the opening of the Music Academy dance festival, Chennai's most prestigious organisation for dance and music," said Alarmel Valli, the renowned Chennai-based Indian classical dancer and choreographer, acknowledged as the foremost exponent of the Pandanallur style Indian classical dance, about this charming pas de deux of herself and that other renowned Indian classical dancer and choreographer Leela Samson, former Chairperson of the Sangeet Natak Akademi and the Censor board.

"I was conferred the Natya Kala Acharya award — the highest honour that the Must Academy confers on dancers. Leela received it last year. She is a very good friend and a great favourite of my mother's!" said Valli "I was very touched that she attended the function."

No takers now
What goes around comes around. This dapper restaurateur was the subject of a massive cat fight when he dumped his attractive wife to make off with a high profile fashion diva. But now that he's been dumped by the diva, who says it was her most abusive relationship to date, it seems there are no takers for him any more. His former wife who was spotted at a recent soiree swears that she's not going to take him back under any condition. Oh dear!

In great company
Between SRK's New Year's Eve bash at his Dubai's Palm Jumeirah and that of Darshan Hiranandani, Naresh Goyal, the third high profile Indian to host a party in the desert state, went under the radar.

Still, given that Goyal's circle of friends extends to international businessmen, Middle Eastern royalty and Bollywood stars, it must have attracted its fair share of sparklers. "He has an entire floor of the up market Le Reve in the Dubai Marina," said a source.
