Infusion kitchen & lounge is just the place you would want to be in if you have a tranquil lunch in mind
Well, this is not the first time someone has attempted fusion food, though we have been closer to fusion in music. The upcoming green-building estate, Gurgaon, apart from elite, conspicuous, corporate office buildings, has in its fold a huge hub of fine-dining restaurants doing quite well for the urban populace. Amongst these dimly lit structures, Infusion-Kitchen & Lounge finds its quiet room, giving a good fight for visibility, yet still locatable and warm (the ambience) when entered.
The Indo-fusion restaurant is at once the place for a supposedly tranquil lunch, a mild, calm evening and a peaceful dinner. The kind we would like to go when we want to talk less, listen more and think. I was all by myself and that makes it quite apparent that I had a lot to gorge on without a sort of personal eye to give me stares on indulging.
A sizzling start
The heavy and royal menu at Infusion opens with a promise of serving comfortably enough. I started on with sizzling appetisers. The wonderfully green (inside orange) vegetable cheese mousse stuffed seekh was hot and the orange cheese sort of melted in the mouth. It just seemed like a dish one would love to have on a rainy day, crisp and tasty. The service is almost maidenly and here comes the fresh-looking Olive and Basil Pesto Prawns accompanied by the classic Fusion chutney, which is one of the fusion specialties. No doubt, the chutney has an awesome taste and yes, the prawns though nicely roasted fall a little low on the scale. The best part is yet to come- entire food is cooked in olive oil. Also, the food is pre-plated, now that would mean to say styled straight from the kitchen, quite a noticeable feature for points on presentation.
Original offers
I have to say, there would only be a limited number of high-end restaurants, which offer such a distinctive styling in the most unconventional way. One thing, I am almost always disappointed to observe is the complete absence of originality of concept when it comes to upscale dining. Well, that came as a surprise to me ufffd the originality, at Infusion. They have adapted, experimented and taken a leap with their original, honest food platter.
Lunch has to be about filling up, though preached and professed to be light worldwide but in our country we always end filling up. I dive into the main course Chicken Breast Ka Roulade, served with tossed vegetables and asafoetida scented sauce. And, thank God! It is not the clumsy, cumbersome-looking, straight from yamraj's kitchen chicken served at every other desi or non-desi restaurants throughout the country. I can doubt the intentions of the Hindustani kadhai chicken lovers at this meal, but all fusion people would find a relaxing delightful non-vegetarian meal for lunch.u00a0u00a0
Sweet nothings
While I have sailed through the main course quite joyously, I got the time (finally) to look at the interiors, nicely done, soft lighting and not so soft, a bit tacky seating arrangements. The waiter didn't give me much time to reflect, as he just appeared with some brilliant colorful desserts, Masala Chai Ka Moussse and Chilly Chocolate Pudding. The pudding and the irregular masala chai are complete hits on the list and remarkable fusions, I must confess.
