"The extremists belonging to a hitherto unknown group Sanyukt Krantikari Committee, tied the hands of five guards posted by the Abhijeet Group to man its proposed power plant in Chakla area around one am before pumping in the bullets," Superintendent of Police Hemant Toppo told reporters here.
Ram Narayan Sao (25), Dripal Ram (30) and Intaf Khan (30) died on the spot, while Vishnu Oraon (33) later died of injuries at a primary health centre here, he said, adding that the injured Karma Oraon is battling for life at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi.
Police found a piece of paper from the scene in which the outfit's name was scribbled, but there was no mention of any reason for the attack, the police officer said.
