It's been a month since the High Grounds fire station and control room located at Seshadri Road started supplying free drinking water to BMTC, Vayu Vajra and tourist buses that pass by the fire station everyday.
The initiative was started by Fire Chief Officer (West) N V Erappa.

Shantappa Yelawantagiri, a Vayu Vajra bus driver who had stopped to collect two bottles of water said, "I come here everyday and collect water from here because the water is clean."
Another BMTC driver Dharminder Singh said, "If I buy a bottle of water from a store, I'll be spending a lot of money everyday, which I can't afford.
Sometimes, if passengers ask for water, we give it to them as well."
There is no limit on the number of bottles that a driver or conductor can take in a day. Erappa added, "The filtered Cauvery water is provided by the corporation, we don't actually spend anything."

He concluded, "This service is only available at our station."
