Incident occurred on November 12 at a Nashik college, where the leaked paper was circulated via WhatsApp; Controller of Examination plays down the incident
Paper leak
A question paper leak via social messaging application — WhatsApp — has stunned the management of the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). The incident occurred on November 12 at a college in Nashik, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Pune varsity.
Sources in the university claimed that certain elements from the academic circle in Nashik procured the leaked paper and circulated it amongst the local mediapersons.
While the second-year civil engineering students were set to appear for the Strength of Material (SOM) exam at 10 am, the leaked paper was apparently circulated around 9.35 am.
The same paper was allegedly leaked on November 11 too. However, it came to the fore that the leaked paper doing rounds was nothing more than a ‘guess’ paper. Only a few questions in this paper had similarities with the SOM question paper set for students on November 12. A similar leak, during MBA examination, was reported in May.
‘Nothing to worry’
When contacted, Dr V B Gaikvad, Controller of Examination (CoE) and director for Board of College and University development (BCUD), downplayed the incident.
“Yes, I received the complaint from Nashik. But its nature wasn’t severe. Moreover, almost all engineering exams have concluded,” he said.
Despite repeated attempts, SPPU vice chancellor Dr W N Gade remained unavailable for comment.
