While campaigning for Kadam, the minister taking a potshot at both, Raj and Uddhav Thackeray, said, "Citizens won't vote for leaders who don't understand that personal differences should not be discussed among voters."

He was also confident that Congress would win 31 seats out of the 48 seats in the state whereas the Shiv Sena will have a poor showing with only two or three seats.

'No Modi wave'
When asked about Narendra Modi, Rane said that the so-called Modi wave had subsided. "Modi roams around the country asking for votes on the basis of the development in Gujarat. However, the figures he presents to people are incorrect."

Rane claimed that Congress candidate Vishwajeet Kadam would win the election as the people of Pune would prefer not to vote for the BJP, who constantly had issues within the party.
