"It has been decided by the Commission that National Level Electoral Roll is to be created, completed and stored as a
National Data Centre and used for providing various services to electors," said a directive issued on January 2 to
the Chief Electoral Office (CEO) by ECI.
The services offered to voters will include providing facilities for searching name, knowing the concerned BLO
(Block Level Officer), constituency name and number, and other voter information.
"The services will also be used for providing the interface to the voters for submitting applications for new
registrations, modifications and deletions," the note added.
The concept is to provide a single window for various services to the electors.
"In view of this I am directed to say that copy of the electoral roll in the text format including photographs of the
electors be submitted to the Commission immediately after final publication. The copy should reach ECI within three
days after final publication," said the order.
The copy can be submitted in soft copy through appropriate media like DVDs, pendrives and hard disk or though
FTP.
