At an age when most girls are anguishing over exams and first-date acne, Gargi (14) is all set to start a dance school
Gargi is a li'l lady with a big purpose. The 14-year-old, born and brought up in Delhi, is passionate about dance and has staged many a popular performance. But instead of craving to be a part of television reality shows, she's on her way to setting up her own dance school.
PASSION: Gargi
Gargi (who doesn't go by her last name) has been training students in western forms for two years now and performing classical forms for the past five years.
u00a0"What I am today is because of my parents. They supported me at every step, especially my father, who helped me in all possible ways," she says. She believes that dance as an art form has been trivialised tremendously over the last few decades and she wants to correct that attitude with her school.
Of course, her mission has had a price. Gargi had to quit regular school and will now appear for Std X board exams through Open School Learning.
She may be young in years, but Gargi is more mature than her peers. When it comes to a cause, age doesn't really matter.
