It has been nine months since anti-superstition activist Dr Narendra Dabholkar was shot dead by two men on a
motorcycle on the Omkareshwar Bridge while he was on a morning walk on August 20, 2013.

However, Pune police are still groping in the dark to nab his killers. To protest against the police failure, volunteers from Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, along with Dabholkar’s son Dr Hameed, formed a human chain on the bridge around 8.30 am yesterday.
“Though the case has been now been transferred to the CBI, none of its officials have contacted to us. The investigation should be carried out under the legal watch, so that it remains transparent. Even today, the city lacks CCTV cameras. They should be installed on priority-basis for citizens’ safety,” said Dr Hameed.
Based on a petition filed by former journalist Ketan Tirodkar, the Bombay High Court transferred the case to the CBI on May 9, 2014.
