Residents allege Noida police doesn't respond to cases filed on its website

If justice delayed is justice denied, residents of Noida can rest assured that they won't find justice when they lodge an online complaint on the website of Noida police. The site, www.noidapolice.com, which has an option to 'report a complaint', are never checked by the cops themselves, allege many of the complainants who are yet to get any response even months after registering their grievances.

Way too complicated
While filing a complaint, apart from other details, the website asks the police station under whose jurisdiction your area falls. "It's not likely that everyone would know the name of the police station. Instead, it should have a list of places to select from. This is an initial mistake in this website," said Harshvardhan, a resident of sector 36.

Once the complainant fills in all the details, an email is sent to their email id and the website asks to, 'confirm within "48" hours for the complaint to be registered.'u00a0 However, the residents doubt if these registered complaints are ever read. "I had filed a complaint long time back. But apart from the one automated email reply, no one from the police department ever contacted me. If the police are not equipped to handle online complaints, they should remove the option from the website," said Anandit Sen, a resident of sector 12.

Noida SSP Jyoti Narayan said, "The moment I am informed, I direct the respective police stations to start investigation. Still if any online complaints have not been addressed, I would definitely look into the matter. Now, we are facing some technical glitches which may be a reason for not receiving any online complaints sinceu00a0 the past few months."

A police official in the SSP office said, "Last year we had received more than 200 complaints online. Most of these cases were properly investigated but this year very few complaints have been filed." Thirty eight cases were filed online in January, 32 in February, 30 in two months March and April and none in the last two months.

The US connection
Details put up by the Noida police on its website can be accessed by Americans as the site is hosted by a US server, in contravention to the Indian law which makes it mandatory for all government websites to be hosted on an Indian server, preferably .in, .nic.in or .gov.https://www.noidapolice.com/ is hosted on a server based in Michigan with IP Address 67.225.203.16 registered in the name of Ducat India, a Noida-based company which was created on October 25, 2005. However, the Noida police are clueless about the issue. Anybody can log into the website and remove or amend data.
