Congress candidate files nomination for Bijepur bypoll

Congress candidate files nomination for Bijepur bypoll

Congress candidate Pranaya Sahu today filed his nomination papers for the Bijepur assembly by-election, polling for which is scheduled to be held on February 24.


Sahu accompanied by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan and other senior party leader filed his papers at the office of sub-collector in Padmapur of Bargarh district.


Besides Harichandan, former chief minister Hemananda Biswal, party chief whip in assembly Tara Prasad Bahinipati, former OPCC president Jayadev Jena, former Union Minister Srikant Kumar Jena and many others were present when Sahu filed his nomination papers after attending a public meeting.

BJP candidate Ashok Panigrahi and BJD contender Rita Sahu had also filed their papers for the by-elections. While Ashok Panigrahi of BJP is a former MLA, BJD has fieled Rita Sahu, the wife of late Congress MLA Subal Sahu.
