Several areas across the city on Sunday faced power outages due to shortage of supply to the tune of 1,000 mega watts.

Private power distribution companies said they had to resort to rotational load shedding to resolve the situation.

Power department officials said the government has requested the National Thermal Power Corporation to restore pool quota of supply to the city as it has been facing power cuts for the last few days.

Delhi got only 800 MW of power from NTPC's Dadri Plant out of its quota of 1,400 MW.

Shortage of coal supply to the plant has affected generation of power. Shortage of coal has also affected at NTPC's Singrauli (Madhya Pradesh), Farakka (West Bengal) and Kahalgaon (Bihar) power plants, said officials.

The city also got only 410 MW from its stations in Badarpur gas turbine plant and Rajghat generation unit due to curtailment in water supply to these two plants. Usually, these two plants produce 1,100 MW of power.
