A child who was just 3-years-old died after he fell into a pot of hot food in Aurangabad city in central Maharashtra, according to the police on Tuesday.


The tragic incident took place in the locality of Pushpak Garden in Chikalthana area Monday. The victim was identified as Harshal Santosh Gadhu, said a police official. "Harshal was apparently playing in the kitchen area at home while his mother was busy with some household work," he said.


"He apparently felt giddy while playing and fell into a nearby pot of hot food, suffering severe burns on the face," the official said. His mother took him to the government hospital where he succumbed to injuries during treatment.


CIDCO police were conducting a further probe.

In another freak accident, a 22-year-old Ambernath resident suffered minor burn injuries on his leg after his high-end phone suddenly exploded on May 12 in Kohajgaon area.

After returning home from a wedding, he kept his phone on the bed for charging. Ten minutes later, the phone exploded and his bed caught fire due to which he suffered minor burns in his leg.

Amit Bhandari then threw buckets of water to douse the fire and immediately rushed to a private hospital to get himself admitted. He was later discharged.

BEST bus fares reduced, minimum fare down to Rs 5
After going back and forth on the issue of reducing the minimum fare for buses, the BEST Committee has finally decided to make the base charge Rs 5. The proposal will first be sent to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and then to the Metropolitan Regional Transport Authority for approvals, a process that would take less than a month.
