Delhi's pleasure spots are drying up. And you can blame the swine flu for it.u00a0
Most high-profile call girls have apparently fled the city, while the remaining ones are treading cautiously for the fear of contracting the H1N1 virus.

The owner of a South Delhi escort agency said around 20 to 30 per cent of girls in the trade have temporarily

stopped servicing clients. He said in the month of June and July, the agency had around 40 to 50 girls working in Delhi. However, after the spread of swine flu, the agency is left with only 25 to 35 girls.

No man from Mumbai

The girls, who don't have an option to leave, are declining clients from Western India. "As Mumbai and Pune are the worst affected, customers coming from these two cities are being ignored. The girls are enquiring about the details of every client before going out with them."

Meanwhile, some have taken to more drastic safety measures. Sonia Arora (name changed), a call girl, said, "We have never felt so insecure in this business. We follow precautions like the use of good quality condoms and have HIV tests done every couple of months to protect ourselves. However after this pandemic, we are all scared. We can't use a surgical facemask while having sex. The only protection is to stop kissing our clients. "

Another girl from the same trade, wishing anonymity, said, "Last week, I got the flu from a customer. I got myself tested for swine flu and thankfully, the result was negative. Now, I have become very choosy and only invite selected customers. I will continue this for the next month or so, till the pandemic is on."

Business still on

However, most escort services said there has been no decline in their business. "The number of calls coming from customers has not been affected. We receive 15 to 20 calls every day," said Sujeet Jain, an escort agent.

Flu scare
Three fresh cases of swine flu were reported on Thursday in the government-run hospitals in the Capital. Delhi Health Minister Kiran Walia said while two people were admitted to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, one case was reported at the Airport Hospital. "All the three patients are school children and are being treated at home," she added.

Forty-six people with swine flu symptoms have been admitted to designated hospitals in the Capital. "Out of these 46 cases, only five are H1N1 positive while the reports for the rest are yet to come. The number of positive patients being treated at home is 18," Walia said.
