During the raid at Virendra Tawde's Panvel house, the CBI is said to have seized incriminating evidence of his involvement in the Dabholkar killing.
At the Panvel house of Sanstha sadhak Dr Virendra Tawde, who is suspected to have masterminded the killing along with Sarang Akolkar, who is wanted in the Madgaon blast of 2009, the CBI found a diary, on which some dates were jotted down.
The CBI raided the house on June 1 and is said to have seized some incriminating evidence.

"The dates when Dabholkar, [CPI leader Govind] Pansare and [scholar MM] Kalburgi were gunned down held some significance in the Hindu almanac. In some of Tawde’s email exchanges, there are references to nakshatra, tithi, karana and yog. One team is working on figuring out their significance. We suspect that the dates, especially that of Dabholkar’s killing, were significant in the panchang," said a CBI official.
He said the agency has so far not taken the help of any astrologer in this line of investigation. "Our main aim is to nab the shooters. A team is already working on some leads in this regard."
Reiterating the suspicion that Dabholkar and Pansare were shot dead by the same killers, the official said they laid low after the first assassination, and shadowed Pansare to study his routine for over six months before carrying out their plan.
Today, the CBI will submit its probe status report before the HC, which is monitoring the case. The Kolhapur police are expected to seek Tawde’s custody for investigation into Pansare's killing.
