Panic was triggered at the Rajiv Chowk Metro Station on Thursday afternoon after police received a call that a bomb had been planted inside the station.

"Police received the call at around 2.51 pm and security personnel reached the metro station at 3:12 pm. We blocked the entry of passenger into the station and started the search operation," a Metro spokesperson said.
Bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs were pressed into service and the search went on for an hour. "When they did not find anything amiss, the call was declared a hoax," said the metro official.

The official added that the required security checks as per set procedures were carried out immediately and after that the station was declared safe and the entry gates were reopened at 4.11 pm.
