A businessman received bullet injuries while his son was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants in GTB enclave area of east Delhi late on Monday night.

Police official investigating the incident said that the father-son duo were in the copper business and had come to the area to receive some payment. The bikers allegedly wanted to rob them of the cash and fired at them when the victims tried to raise an alarm.

"Mayank (22) was shot dead while his father Ramesh has a bullet wound. He has been admitted to GTB hospital and is undergoing treatment. The assailants could not take away the cash," said a senior police official.
Ramesh lives in Vivek Vihar area and has a shop in Sadar Bazar.

"The assailants may be acquainted with the victims and had already planned to loot the businessman and his son. An employee can also be behind the incident," said the police official The officer added that they were interrogating the businessman's employees and will check call details in order to locate the culpprits.
