The situation in Rajathan's Bharatpur, which witnessed violent clashes between two communities over a land dispute, today remained under control as the curfew was relaxed for three hours even as the death toll rose to eight.

Security forces kept a tight vigil in the entire area and the district administration relaxed the curfew for three hours from 12 noon to 3 pm.

Law and order situation will be reviewed in the evening and any further decision regarding curfew will be taken after that, District Collector Krishna Kunal said.

Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to eight with a person succumbing to his injuries at Sawai Man Singh government hospital at Jaipur.

Police had recovered three dead bodies floating in a well late last night in Gopalgarh.

Eight people have died so far, State Home Minister Shanti Dhariwal told reporters here. Dhariwal, along with Chief Secretary S Ahemad and DGP Harish Meena, visited the violence-hit areas earlier in the day.

Curfew was imposed in the area on Wednesday after people belonging to two communities clashed over a land dispute, pelting stones and exchanging fire.
