BMC demolishes two buildings in Mulund

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished two buildings in Mulund — Chedda Bhuvan and Chedda Mahal -- on Saturday after they were declared to be extremely dangerous (classified as C-1). Both the buildings had 12 tenants each. Everyone, except one family, had vacated the building earlier.

The buildings had been issued eviction notices earlier too. On Friday, the BMC issued a final eviction notice to the last remaining tenant, who vacated the building on Friday itself. On Saturday morning, the BMC demolished the building. The tenants either shifted to a rented place offered by the builder who is planning to redevelop the building while others went to their relatives’ homes.

The stuctures were tenanted property and according to one of the residents, the landlord had sold it to a developer named Metro developers a few years ago, who is now planning to redevelop the building.u00a0
