Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vinay Katiyar on Wednesday, launching a scathing attack, said that the Muslims divided the country in the name of religion, hence they should leave the country.
"Muslims should not live in this country. They divided the country in the name of religion, what is the need of living in this country? They should go to Bangladesh or Pakistan, what work do they have here?" he asked.
Katiyar's statement comes in the wake of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi's demand that the Central Government bring out a law that would make calling Indian Muslims "Pakistani" a punishable offence.
Baba Ramdev disagrees
Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Wednesday expressed his disagreement with Vinay Katiyar and said that Muslims have equal right to live in this country. "I don't agree with Vinay Katiyar because Muslims have equal right to live in this country. This country equally belongs to Jain, Buddhists, Dalits, Sikhs, and Christians. It is not right to differentiate people based on religions", he said.
Owaisi's poetic jibe
In his response to Katiyar's statement on Muslims, AIMIM chief Owaisi on Wednesday said, "Now what can we say? His tenure is about to end and before the lamp is extinguished, there are lot of flares (aur chirag bujhne se pehle bhadakta bahut hai)."
