Pune: Following what Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu had advised on Saturday in the two-day BJP state executive meet, state education minister Vinod Tawde wished their saffron alliance Shiv Sena on completing 50 years in active politics yesterday.

Among a host of political resolutions that was decided yesterday, maintaining a cordial bond with their frenemy Shiv Sena was etched out too and this should come as good news to the saffron party on their big day.

Though senior leaders of BJP have asked party workers to keep Shiv Sena in healthy terms to ensure proper functioning of the government and the state, not all want the alliance to continue for the upcoming Municipal Corporation, local and district-level polls.

“We do not want any coalition with a party that calls us Nizam’s father. We can start working to form a government independently, rather than working with the Shiv-Sena,” said BJP MLA Madhu Chavan in the post session discussion, referring to the June 9 comment by Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut about Nizam, who was the former Muslim ruler of the princely state of Hyderabad. Aurangabad and some parts of Marathwada were a part of this state in the past. His stand was supported by many party workers.
