When nothing worked for the BJP in Delhi, the saffron party turned to the Bollywood to win over the 37 lakh young voters in the city.

Former BJP MP Vijay Goel has distributed about 1,000 tickets of the Aamir Khan starrer Ghajini at M2K Rohini and Pitampura.

The ticket, a copy of which is with MiD DAY, has a proforma attached to it on which the name of the youth, his age, mobile number and e-mail is recorded for the party database.

An innovative way to win over the hearts of young voters specially when the battle for Parliament is nearing.
Goel, however, denied that it was being done to create a database. "It was only one show in which some youngsters decided to watch the movie together," Goel told MiD DAY.

The ticket proclaims that it is a part of the 'Yuva Mahotsav' to be held on January 26 at Ramlila Ground, Pitampura.

"There won't be any political issue in the Yuva Mahotsav, but only fun. BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu and Punjabi pop singer Daler Mahendi would also participate in the Mahotsav," said a BJP leader, close to Goel.

Goel added that about 10,000 youth will participate in the Mahotsav, which will be attended by the party's prime ministerial candidate LK Advani.

It is not only films, but the BJP is organising different programmes at various places to attract the youth towards the party.

"We are organising a programme exclusively for the youth at Sita Ram Bazar on January 24, where a body-building show and other entertainment events would be held," said a close associate of Goel.
