Ghaziabad: Family members of a 5-year-old boy, who died at a government hospital in Ghaziabad, on Wednesday staged a protest as they laid his body outside the hospital premises and alleged delay in treatment as the reason behind the child's death, police said.

Deceased's father Jagdish, said his son Ashu was admitted to the combined district hospital yesterday. He alleged that the attending doctor, Dr RC Gupta, took a bribe of Rs 400 but no treatment was given even after two hours, DSP Manish Mishra said.

The boy was later given an injection by a nurse on the orders of the doctor following which he vomited some foamy substance and died, he said. The family members protested against the doctor and the hospital staff. They demanded legal action and arrest of doctor.

On receiving information, police and City Magistrate reached the spot. The body has been sent for postmortem and the cause behind the death would be ascertained after the report, the officer said, adding, if the doctor is found to be negligent, then legal action would be taken by the District Magistrate and a report will also be sent to the medical board for departmental action.
