Hyderabad: It may have been easy for him to scale world's highest mountain but not handling the ragging at the college. S. Anand Kumar, the first Dalit to scale Mount Everest, had to face the menace of ragging by his seniors at the government-run Nizam College here.

The 18-year-old, who is doing BA, was ragged by two of his seniors. The incident occured in the college library on Tuesday but came to light on Friday. The youngster who felt humiliated lodged a complaint with the college principal.
The principal on Friday suspended Bharat and Mohan Lal, the students involved in the incident, while police also summoned them and held a counselling session. Anand was so upset by the incident that he was even thinking of discontinuing education and going back to his village in Khammam district of Telangana.
Son of a cycle mechanic, Anand hit headlines last year when he scaled Mount Everest along with Malavath Poorna, a tribal girl who at the age of 13 became the youngest woman in the world to achieve the feat.
