After drawing flak for a series of administrative blunders that included an exam paper leak, centre allocation error and hall tickets goof-up, the Mumbai University has expressed confidence at conducting the next set of exams that start today.

The varsity, which initiated strong measures soon after the gaffes, claims that there will be no chance of a goof-up or any mistake, as a team consisting of the pro-vice-chancellor, registrar, and director of examinations are now well equipped to deal with any uncertainties. Moreover, a newly formed 15-member committee for examinations set up on March 28 will ensure that the exams are free from hitches.u00a0

“The university is well prepared for the exams that start today. We have already checked the sitting capacity of centres and have developed a new method wherein the chief conductor will be informed of the number of students at the centre. The new system will ensure that paper leaks don’t occur,” said Dr Subhas Deo, director of examination and evaluation.

“When the exams started, only the vice-chancellor was handling everything, and he was under a lot of pressure. But, now with the recent appointments, the team is consolidated. Furthermore, we are also contemplating holding a workshop for the administrative staff in handling exams,” said Deo. The new system is not being divulged in order to prevent exam paper leaks.
