In previous years, Pawar has presented budgets dedicated to historical figures and key sectors, including agriculture, industry, and healthcare. His fiscal discipline during the COVID-19 crisis was widely recognised for stabilising Maharashtra’s economy.

The 2021 budget was presented on International Women’s Day and focused on women’s welfare and empowerment. Last year’s pre-election budget was noted for its inclusivity and played a key role in the Mahayuti government’s return to power.

The budget session is set to conclude on 26 March, with key discussions expected on fiscal policies and state development. Pawar’s past budgets have prioritised farmers, labourers, women, Dalits, tribals, students, and youth, and this year’s budget is anticipated to continue in the same direction.
