As per protocol, DPS Nerul has allowed only half class from Std VIII to Std XII to attend school on alternate days
Students attend a class at DPS Nerul
From having staggered timings for varied divisions, different entry points for temperature checks, physical distancing and sanitisation, DPS Nerul welcomed students on Monday as per the SOPs of the NMMC and Maharashtra government. Only half the students from each standard are allowed to attend classes every alternate day. Many students who were excited, arrived earlier than the given time.

"This feels amazing. Though we were in touch with students online, watching them walk to classrooms is a different joy altogether. It's really nice that things have improved and we hope other students will also get permission to attend class in the near future," said a teacher from the school.
Only 20 per cent students from Stds VIII to XII turned up for physical classes. But students are glad to be back. "I was missing this mode of education. I was also missing my classmates. So, I am happy to be back," said Krish Duggal, a Std XII student. Another student had a request for the government. "I urge the government to grant permission for sports in schools as well. We can start with sports having less physical contact," said Garv Khar from Std XI.
"There were some ifs and buts, among some of my friends, but now as the day ends I feel confident. As per protocol we can attend school every alternate day, but I would love to attend every day," said Unnati Pawa from Std XII. Parents said they trusted the school to take proper care. "My son studies in Std XI and was excited to attend school since the announcement was made by the government. We have faith that the school will take utmost care of our children," said Mukta Pathak.
"This is a good step. My daughter was missing classroom learning. If proper care is taken, we can keep COVID at bay," said Dr Fazil Patankar, another parent. "The school has taken necessary steps to follow the guidelines and SOPs issued by the NMMC and state government. They have been displayed on our website for parents, students and staff," said J Mohanty, principal.
