Water supply in parts of Thane district in Maharashtra will be affected on Wednesday, June 4 due to maintenance works, Thane civic officials said on Monday.

A planned water supply shutdown in some parts of the city on June 4, due to essential maintenance work at the Temghar Water Treatment Plant, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) said.

It said that the water supply shutdown is scheduled from 9 am to 9 pm on Wednesday.

During this 12-hour period, there will be no water supply in the following areas: Ghodbunder Road, Vartak Nagar, Ritu Park, Jail, Gandhi Nagar, Rustomjee, Siddhanchal, Samata Nagar, Siddheshwar, Eternity, Johnson, and parts of Kalwa, civic body said.

It further said that this maintenance includes pre-monsoon servicing of the high-pressure substation, control panel repairs, and transformer oil filtration. These works are crucial to ensure the smooth operation of the water supply system during the upcoming rainy season.

Water supply from other sources, such as Shahad Temghar Water Supply Authority (STEM), will continue in unaffected areas with adjusted distribution (zoning).

The TMC has also informed residents that water pressure may be low for 1-2 days after the supply resumes.

"Citizens are advised to store water in advance and avoid wastage," the Thane civic officials said.

The BMC said that the work involves connecting a new 900-mm diameter water pipeline and installing a valve of the same size at the Thakur Complex entrance, located near the Western Express Highway.

During this period, the water supply from the main pipeline will be completely shut down.

The following areas in the R-South Ward will be affected:
