A police investigation into the incident was prompted by the disturbing finding of an unnamed man's half-burnt body near railway tracks in Kalyan, Thane district, Maharashtra, according to a report in PTI.

An official from the Tilak Nagar police station told PTI that the body was retrieved from the town's Patri Pool area and taken to a government hospital for a post-mortem test.
"The Railway Police's patrolling team found the partially-burnt body of an unidentified man, who appears to be around 40 years of age, in the bushes close to the railway tracks," an official told PTI.
A police source told PTI that investigators are suspecting foul play and have proposed that the victim may have been slain by someone who then tried to destroy evidence by setting the body on fire. This complicates the investigation even more.
Police stations in the area are examining missing persons' reports in an attempt to identify the deceased guy. Identification efforts are in progress, the report added.
According to Faisal Tatli, the head of the disaster cell of Bhiwandi Nizampura Municipal Corporation (BNMC), an unnamed man in his mid-thirties was found dead in a river close to Sawande village in Thane district. The incident happened earlier this year.
At the same time, a different incident occurred in the Kongaon region. Late on Wednesday night, the body of a 40-year-old man named Govind Bablu Kamble was discovered in a dumping ground. Senior police inspector RB Pawar stated that a bamboo stick was discovered next to the dead, and the body had scars on its neck.
The investigation revealed that unknown attackers had struck Kamble with the stick. The body was promptly transported for a post-mortem, and the authorities filed a murder case against the unidentified culprits under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
The police are working nonstop to find the murderer and determine the reason for Kamble's terrible death. Law enforcement officials are tirelessly working to shed light on these terrible events, and investigations into both crimes that occurred in Thane district are still ongoing.
