A Seven-foot-long crocodile was rescued from Thane recently by the NGO RAWW along with the forest department. Honorary Wildlife Warden of Thane, Pawan Sharma, who also belongs to the NGO RAWW, said, "The male Marsh crocodile was rescued from the premises of Suraj Water Park in Thane.

The reptile was spotted by the staff around 5 am soon after which the authorities got in touch with RAWW and the Forest Department. Responding to the distress call, a seven-member rescue team was assigned after confirming the sighting.
Joaquim Naik , Aman Singh, Omsi Para, Anil Bhalerao, Ritik Jaiswal , Ajay Kanojiya and Pawan Sharma reached the spot and safely rescued the reptile within 30 minutes under the supervision of the forest department and in coordination with Narendra Muthe, range forest officer, Thane Range, of the territorial wing of the forest department.
The crocodile was taken to Sanjay Gandhi National Park where it was medically examined by Dr Shailesh Pethe. “The teams will be surveying and studying the area of rescue and will examine it to understand the route and reason of displacement,” Sharma said.
