A 22-year-old man has been arrested in Dombivli area of the Thane district for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl living in his neighbourhood, police said on Saturday, reported PTI.

The incident took place at Sagarli village, said an official of Manpada police station. As per the complaint, the accused lured the girl to his house and raped her after threatening to kill her and her parents if she resisted, reported PTI.
The girl initially did not tell her parents about the incident. Two days ago, when she developed pain in her abdomen and her mother took her to the doctor, she disclosed everything, the official said, reported PTI.
Thane crime: Accused in police custody till May 15
A case of rape under IPC section 376 and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered and probe was on, he said. A local court on Saturday remanded the accused in police custody till May 15, reported PTI.

In another case, the police on Saturday arrested a man for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl at a residential building in Maharashtra's Thane district, an official said, reported PTI.
Based on a complaint, a case under section 354 (assault or criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered at Kolsewadi police station in Kalyan, the official said, reported PTI.
The accused, Mahesh Chavan (33), allegedly accosted the girl who was cycling in the compound of the building on Friday night, hugged her and touched her inappropriately, he said, reported PTI.
The victim ran to her parents and narrated the ordeal, after which they lodged the complaint, the official added.
