Several Shiv Sena ministers in Maharashtra's cabinet met with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday, urging action against BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad over what they see as unfounded claims against Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, according to a report in PTI.

Per the PTI report, on February 2, Kalyan East MLA Ganpat Gaikwad allegedly opened fire on local Shiv Sena leader Mahesh Gaikwad and another person at the Hill Line police station in Ulhasnagar, Thane district. He was later arrested on allegations of attempted murder and other crimes.

Ganpat Gaikwad said on a television channel before his detention that Chief Minister Shinde was pushing political criminality, the report added.

Shiv Sena minister Shambhuraj Desai, attended by cabinet colleagues, met with Fadnavis and urged him to take action against Ganpat Gaikwad for making what they believe are frivolous and misleading claims against Chief Minister Shinde.

"We met him before the cabinet meeting and asked him to take action against Ganpat Gaikwad for making baseless, inaccurate and meaningless allegations against CM Shinde," Desai told PTI.

Desai, also Thane district's guardian minister, expressed confidence that Fadnavis, who has the Home ministry in the Shinde government, would address their issues, PTI further stated.

According to the report, Desai emphasised the need for accountability in the coalition involving the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, the Bharatiya Janata Party, and the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party, noting that Ganpat Gaikwad had not informed him of any alleged issues with CM Shinde in the previous one and a half years.

Meanwhile, the Thane hospital on Monday said that the Sena leader Mahesh Gaikwad, who was shot at, is now in a stable condition. The hospital officials told the news agencies that Gaikwad who had undergone an emergency surgery on Friday night is now stable, He was said to be in a critical condition earlier.

Meanwhile, Kalyan Lok Sabha member and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's son Shrikant Shinde met Gaikwad at the hospital in Thane city and inquired about his health. A photo of Shrikant Shinde with Sena's Kalyan unit chief surfaced on social media, stated the agency report.
