Orders of Sameer Wankhede’s repatriation from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to his home cadre Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) were received on Monday. Wankhede was hired for a period of six months to investigation the Sushant Singh Rajput death case in September 2020. Later, his tenure was extended by further six months. Wankhede’s tenure ended on December 31.

The former NCB Zonal Director’s office confirmed to Mid-day that orders have been received and Wankhede will be relieved today or tomorrow as currently he is in Goa for some drug operation.

Wankhede landed in a huge controversy  and is facing multiple probes after Maharahta cabinet minister Nawab Malik made a series of allegations against him following the arrest of Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan. However, Wankhede has denied all allegations made by Malik came from prejudice.
