In Pune, a bus driver from the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Manhamandal Limited (PMPL) has been arrested for reckless driving and causing a collision with other vehicles in the city. The incident took place on Senapati Bapat Road around 1 pm on Saturday, a report in PTI stated.

According to the report, the driver, identified as Nilesh Sawant, has been apprehended by the police under various sections, including 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 279 (rash driving), and other applicable provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act.

According to an official from the Chatushrungi police station, the accident occurred when a PMPML bus was en route to Chinchwad. The driver engaged in an argument with a motorist over reckless driving. In response to potential threats from other motorists, the driver decided to reverse the bus, inadvertently colliding with vehicles behind him, the report added.

Fortunately, there were no injuries in the accident. Nonetheless, the driver has been arrested on charges of recklessness and related offences, emphasizing the importance of road safety and responsible driving.

In another incident that happened on Sunday, a person died after a Gujarat State Transport bus collided with a crane on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in the Palghar district of Maharashtra.

According to a police official quoted by PTI, the incident occurred around 3 am while the crane was being reversed after hitting a road divider on the highway. At that moment, a bus operated by the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation, carrying 35 passengers, struck the crane from behind at the Dapchari check post on the Maharashtra-Gujarat border. Regrettably, the cleaner of the crane was killed in the accident. The body has been sent to a government hospital for postmortem, as confirmed by the police.

On October 15, a tragic incident took place where a speeding mini-bus collided with a container on the Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra's Aurangabad district, resulting in 12 fatalities and 23 injuries. PTI reported that 35 passengers were on board the bus.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Ambadas Danve, visited the accident site and the hospital on Sunday morning to meet with the patients.

Dr Balaji Gore, the RMO at Ghati Hospital, stated that all the injured individuals are in stable condition except for two who are in critical condition and require no further medical procedures. He also mentioned that five politicians have visited the hospital since the accident.
