In two separate incidents of rail accidents over the past week, the Andheri Railway Police have managed to trace the families of the deceased using only a railway PNR number and debit card that they recovered from the spots. The cops then took the help of the bank and railways to trace their families. One of the deceased, Anil Chandraprakash Yadav, who was working for a digital wallet company and resided at Nalasopara, fell from a running train at Jogeshwari last week. Police only recovered his debit card from the spot.

According to the cops, Yadav boarded a train from Andheri railway station and was going towards Nalasopara, when he fell off the train. An unknown person informed the railways after spotting him near the railway tracks at Jogeshwari station. The police rushed Yadav to hospital but he was declared dead before admission.

Andheri Railway Police Senior Inspector, Shailendra Kamble and officer Sudhir Mahapadi started the investigation to trace the deceased’s family. The cops took his details from the bank with the help of the debit card. They found that Yadav was from Itawa district in Uttar Pradesh. After his family was informed, they came to Mumbai and completed his final rites.

In another incident, the police found a body on the railway tracks between Jogeshwari and Andheri stations last week. The deceased had fallen off a running train. However, the cops found a rail ticket in his pocket and with help of the PNR number, they traced his family. The deceased was identified as Mahesh Hiralal Saket. His ticket was booked using his brother-in-law’s number.
