The Prime Minister is scheduled to hold a public rally at the MMRDA ground in Bandra Kurla Complex. He will also inaugurate projects worth nearly Rs 38,800 crore in the city and also lay foundation stones of various other projects.

The premier was presented with a traditional Maharashtrian turban, figurine of Chhatrapati Shivaji and a model of the Metro at the MMRDA ground at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).

Opposition and other political leaders in Maharashtra have criticized the Prime Ministers visit. The visit is being seen as an opportunity by the BJP and Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena to use it to display a united front and the might of their alliance.

South Mumbai Member of Parliament and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mumbai was being organised for publicity ahead of the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.

Mocking the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit, Shiv Sena (UBT) in its mouthpiece 'Saamana' said that the Prime Minister's visit to the city was just another "campaign for his party', not for any welfare of the state.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), in a statement, on Wednesday said that the Maharashtra government led by Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis had invited the Prime Minister to Mumbai to hide its failure and throw dust in the eyes of the public.
