Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital after experiencing uneasiness on Monday. He is said to be in stable condition. The 81-year-old Rajya Sabha member of Parliament has been suffering from a lung infection due to which the doctor advised him to get admitted.

Dr Pratit Samdani, internal medicine physician and intensivist at Breach Candy Hospital, who is treating the veteran politician, said, “He has been admitted due to an infection in the lungs. The necessary tests were done and treatment is ongoing. At present, he will be hospitalised for two to three days.”

According to NCP general secretary Shivajirao Garje, Pawar will remain in the hospital for three days and is expected to be discharged on November 2. “He will attend the party’s two-day meeting, which is scheduled to begin on November 3,” Garje said. The functionary appealed to party leaders and workers not to gather at the hospital. Pawar had undergone gall bladder surgery at the private hospital in April last year.
