Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation to float global tenders for Covid-19 vaccine soon

"We need to ramp up vaccination as we have the setup ready to inoculate maximum people. Global tenders will be floated shortly to procure vaccines. Vaccinating people fast will help in reducing the impact of third wave,” said NMMC Commissioner Abhijit Banga.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is planning to float a global tender for procurement of Covid-19 vaccine, said a civic body official.


“We need to ramp up vaccination as we have the setup ready to inoculate maximum people. Global tenders will be floated shortly to procure vaccines. Vaccinating people fast will help in reducing the impact of third wave,” said NMMC Commissioner Abhijit Banga.


Vaccination started in Navi Mumbai from January 16 and till now 2,51,355 citizens have received the first dose.

Navi Mumbai has a population of about 15 lakh, out of which 10.80 lakh citizens are aged above 18 years and are eligible for vaccination. Out of this eligible population 2.51 lakh citizens have taken their first dose whereas 58,000 have got their second dose as well. 8.29 lakh citizens from the corporation area are still awaiting their first dose.
