A 40-year-old biker was beaten up for honking at a car parked in the middle of a road in Sanpada, Navi Mumbai. The victim claimed that two men and a woman, who were in the car, chased him and beat him up with his own helmet till he was unconscious. Turbhe police have booked the trio, but no arrest has been made yet. The victim, Gauresh Chikhlikar, claimed it took him two days to gather the courage to approach the police.

The incident took place around 6.30 pm on October 16 when Chikhlikar, a Bhandup resident, was on his way to visit a relative in Sanpada, Sector 19. He said, “I was riding my bike on Palm Beach Road when I saw a red and white Tata Nexon car parked in the middle of the road. After I honked four-five times, the driver took the car to the side of the road and I left.”

He added that when he reached his relative’s building and was parking the bike, a car with two men and a woman approached him. “One of the men got hold of Chikhlikar’s helmet and dragged him from the bike. The other man removed the helmet and started beating him with it, while the woman stood there and verbally abused him,” said a cop from Turbhe police station. The duo then hit Chikhlikar on his head and face, making him lose consciousness. The trio then fled from the spot.

“I had just honked at them but that enraged them. When they came after me, I didn’t even understand why they were charging towards me. It was only when the woman started shouting, asking why I honked at them, that I realised these were the same people. They kept hitting me till I was unconscious. I regained consciousness after 45 minutes and went to MGM Hospital in Vashi. The incident left me injured and scared. After two days, I found the courage to approach the police,” Chikhlikar said.
